Book Description

When Mack Stout decides to call out the toxic behavior of co-workers and bosses, he is truly maxed out. There were tough choices to be made when confronted with the realities of discrimination and hostility in the workplace.

Growing up in an obscure part of America, with parents who were children of the Great Depression, he faced a choice: either latch on to any job that would result in being on a secure payroll or get an education and try for something better. There may come a time when you realize that life isn't going to turn out the way you envisioned. When you suddenly find yourself being kicked to the curb, how do you deal with it? Facing burn-out and a crisis of identity, he is forced to contemplate a career change.

He got a taste of what it is like being a middle-age man with old-school values who finds himself working for a young woman with millennial tendencies. Confronted with the decision of what to do when he discovered that his manager was targeting him for dismissal by creating a toxic situation and doing everything possible to make it look like leaving was Mack's idea. He had to make a critical decision upon realizing that his best option for handling a micro-managing boss rhymes with duck fat.

Part memoir, part cautionary tale, and all true, this is the story of someone experiencing the rat-race, the corporate ladder, the Dilbert Zone, call it what you will, and making sense of it the only way he knows how - by using an edgy sense of humor as both a tool for coping with these onslaughts, and a weapon for revenge against the perpetrators. The narrative is both thought-provoking and laugh-out-loud funny, or at least as funny as a story involving ageism, horrible bosses, and self-medicating can be.
