In 1900 classical Vienna, composer Anton Becker’s radical music is ridiculed. But the devil likes it and wants his soul to upgrade hell’s cringingly awful music so as to compete with heaven’s glorious music. He promises Anton, who’s poor and a nobody, fame, wealth, and marriage to the off-limits love of his life, Lisa von Schelling. Heaven right away sends the Angel Ludwig van Beethoven to try to keep the ‘young blockhead’ on the old straight and narrow.
