It’s been like that for a long time, raising a kid on my own. When Josh left for college, it was bittersweet and…lonely.

Time to reconnect with my younger sister, Maren. We’d been close growing up, but life had taken us down different paths and we drifted apart. When I pull up to her house, crossing my fingers that her Ass Hat husband won’t be there, I get my wish… And the shock of my life!

Outlined in the flames of a giant bonfire, Maren is feeding the fire with clothes, golf clubs and shoes; screaming curses that would make a sailor blush. Is that my sister or the Wicked Witch of the East?

Oh crap. Ass Hat chose that morning to announce he wanted a divorce?

My big sister genes kick into high gear. With Maren on the verge of a breakdown,I convince her we need to get away–go on a cross-country RV road trip together. It’s been decades since we did anything together. It’ll just be a few weeks away to get centered again.

And that was when things get bat-shit crazy.

The second night in our journey, a Tuesday, we get lost. And not just lost in the back country, but lost as in 72 hours we have no memory of. When we wake up Friday morning, it’s a total freak-out. And that isn’t the worst of it…or maybe the best of it? My no-nonsense, practical sister now has some kind of ‘magic hands’? Able to levitate stuff?

She’s thrilled. I’m pissed. Why her and not me? Totally unfair.

At the next campsite things gets even wackier! I’ve always been a huge fan of magical fantasy, but this? Vampires, Fae and Werewolves are real? And they’re parked in the same campground?

They’re not only real… but dangerous. Deadly dangerous.

It’s a good thing that we’ve got these magical powers! (Yeah, mine kicked in later. Thanks for asking.) But Witches? We’re really Witches? How’d that even happen?

But, I’ll think about that later, right after I rescue my little sister–again. There’s a Fae uprising and somehow Maren got kidnapped!
