Book Description

While there are a lot of events in my life I will never forget, there is one day that stands out above most. Without a doubt, the horror of that day changed my life and world FOREVER! In the end, I would lose most of my childhood friends and high school classmates in the boondoggle disaster! Even as time passed, I will never understand how so many of our leaders had so much indifference in them that they could take a whole generation of young innocent lives—millions of lives—and destroy them in the name of freedom. That day was September 30, 1966. It was the day I landed in Vietnam.

The Vietnam War (1955–1975)—58,220 Killed—hundreds of thousands more died later from the pesticides they were exposed too during the war. But Vietnam Veterans are not alone. Regrettably, the legacy of the deadly chemicals will long outlast their veteran victims. In reality, exposures to toxic materials in service to this country have killed more military veterans than the enemies we fought have. Even today in 2020, research on the impact of toxic exposures on returning Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans’ health is still ongoing.

Silent Spring - Deadly Autumn of the Vietnam War may have been written too late to help Vietnam Veterans with their toxic exposures and illnesses, but it’s not too late to help future generations of military personnel from encountering the same fate. When will it stop? What happened in Vietnam … didn’t stay in Vietnam. It came home with us!
